Protection strategy engineer

Scibreak develops fast DC switchgear based on our proprietary technology with leading performance in terms of speed, losses, volume and cost. We are expanding our team to provide full protection solutions for multi-terminal HVDC grids. Recently the plans for multi-terminal HVDC grids have quickly progressed from being on the horizon to something urgently needed to avoid the energy crisis in Europe and to provide a path to a carbon-neutral society.

We recently became part of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, which greatly enhances our abilities to develop and market our technology. Our work environment combines the flexibility of the small company with the resources and global reach of a large corporation.

We are looking for a design engineer to work on the development of protection strategies for multi-terminal HVDC grids. This entails defining overall protection philosophy as well as DC switching station design requirements considering fault detection and fault clearing.

You will be interacting and working together with external contacts to enable large scale multi-terminal grids. This will include direct contacts with TSOs and participation in EU projects, e.g., InterOPERA.

You will also be working tightly together with our development teams in Sweden and Japan on the HVDC protection IED and its related equipment; primarily in providing requirements and specifications, but also with implementation of new protection algorithms in the IED.

We value general knowledge of switchgear, power grids and power electronics. As we are a small organization, we appreciate versatility and the ability to take responsibility for your work.

Your background

You have a Ph.D. or and M.Sc. in electrical engineering in the field of power systems, power system protection, power electronics or similar, and preferably several years of experience in analysis and design of power grids. In addition, experience of working with EMT simulations in PSCAD or similar, as well as real-time simulations is highly valued.

What we offer

We offer a competitive salary and great development opportunities in a dynamic and creative work environment. If you want to grow your career in the HVDC field together with us, please send us your CV. The main working location will be at our office in Stockholm.
